2011 Building Contract

Merchant Taylors’ School have appointed us to design a new Sports and Cricket Pavilion. This included the ground floor with changing facilities for cricket, hockey and rugby, and externally, new rugby and cricket pitches, together with a floodlit hockey pitch and associated infrastructure.

The first floor incorporated a large clubhouse facility including a bar, restaurant and committee room for the Old Merchant Taylors’ Society.

An elegant linear two-storey building with a gentle sloping copper roof provided shelter to external spaces on each floor. The building makes a modern architectural statement that compliments the surrounding grounds while stimulating interest.

The linear plan of the building facilitates panoramic views over the external sports facilities, forming an interaction between the interior and the exterior spaces.

The completion of this project was culmination of 12 years of careful planning work to secure the development within the “green belt”.

The practice places great emphasis on designing architecture of high quality and this approach has resulted in a significant media profile and industry recognition.
