The redevelopment of the former Baldock Police Station in central Baldock, Hertfordshire, was a joint project with Vincent and Gorbing Architects for 8 units on a prominent site within a Conservation Area. Due to the sensitive location with surrounding listed buildings, trees and potential for archaeology, the project required a high quality design and careful consideration of the impact on the streetscene.

The redevelopment proposal was prepared following careful consideration of the local context. In developing the site layout, a number of design principles were adopted to create a high standard of design, to respect the existing environment and to create a sustainable development. Adopting a neo-Georgian style, the scheme proposed 8 dwellings in total comprising 2 x two-bed, 3 x three-bed and 3 x four-bed units and was successfully negotiated through the planning process and constructed thereafter. The development has resulted in a very significant improvement to the appearance of this stretch of Baldock High Street.
