The redevelopment of the former police station site was a joint project in which both architectural and town planning services were provided to the local housing association client.

The scheme was for eight new town houses on a prominent High Street site within the Conservation Area. Due to the sensitive location with surrounding Listed buildings, trees and a potential for archaeology, the project required a high-quality design and careful consideration of the impact on the street-scene.

A neo-Georgian style was combined with traditional cottage style, and the application was successfully negotiated through the Planning process that involved consultation with the Conservation, Urban Design and Tree officers, as well as the general public. The development has resulted in a very significant improvement to the appearance of this part of Baldock’s High Street.
