We were commissioned to design a new police station and criminal justice centre utilising two existing Grade II Listed Buildings. A total gross floor area of 6,900m² incorporates a new base command unit area headquarters, a police station with public enquiry office, a custody suite comprising 40 cells and a criminal justice centre.

The existing buildings have been fully restored and sensitively adapted to conform to modern day standards, alongside the requirements of the planning and conservation authorities.

The design has been subjected to a thorough process of Design Reviews by CABE and the Home Office Review Panel who fully endorsed the overall approach and design of the development.

Sustainable and environmental aspects are reflected in both the existing and new building form. The completed building was one of four buildings to feature in the Home Office publication ‘Better Police Buildings’.

Completed project was awarded The Geoff-de-Havilland Enterprise award in 2009.
