Vincent and Gorbing secured the Stevenage Police Station and custody suite project following an interview and selection process by Hertfordshire Constabulary. We were then appointed to act as Architects and Lead Consultants for this highly prestigious project which involved refurbishment and alteration of the existing regional police headquarters extension, incorporating 24-cell custody unit and a new build special police accommodation.
The design, on the edge of the town centre, has been highly acclaimed for the way it sensitively incorporates three storeys of police accommodation above the custody suite. CABE and The Home Office were particularly impressed how the architects had managed to incorporate highly secure unit into an urban setting, whilst maintaining the integrity of the Public Realm.
The project was subjected to a rigorous CABE Design review at the design stage.
The scheme was nominated for the RICS Regional Community Excellence Award.
