St. Andrew’s House was a 1980’s building, accommodating 32 self-contained flats in two connected blocks. In April 2011, Hertfordshire County Council declared the building as “not fit for purpose” and a decision was taken to close the building leaving the site vacant and available for disposal.

The site was a joint project with Vincent and Gorbing Architects for the provision of a mix of 3, 4 and 5 bedroom dwellings. In developing the proposed site layout, a number of design principles were adopted to create a high standard of design, to respect the existing environment and to create a sustainable development whilst maximising the development potential of the site.
