The Priority School Building Programme is a centralised procurement programme to address the renewal of those parts of England's school estate in the worst condition. The school buildings in the Hertfordshire Luton and Reading (HLR) batch demonstrated the typical attributes of buildings which are reaching the end of their serviceable life.
In March 2014, Vincent and Gorbing was instructed by Interserve Construction Ltd, on behalf of the Education Funding Agency, to prepare and submit applications for the replacement of seven schools:
All seven planning application were approved in late 2014. Both Goffs and Kings Langley Schools were located in the Green Belt, and so very special circumstances had to be demonstrated. Since that time Vincent and Gorbing has remained closely involved discharging planning conditions and obtaining permission for revisions to the approved schemes. All seven schools were successfully completed and opened in autumn 2016 and spring 2017.
