Safestore is the UK’s largest self-storage operator with 120 stores throughout the country.
Over the last few years, Vincent and Gorbing has been advising Safestore on potential sites for future expansion. We have carried out numerous planning appraisals on potential acquisitions and have submitted planning applications on new and existing sites.
One such scheme was for a new self-storage warehouse in Morden Road, Mitcham, in south London. The site contained existing industrial buildings which were to be demolished to make way for the new self-storage warehouse.
We worked closely with the client, with the architects Tew and Smith, and a team of other technical consultants to prepare a robust planning application submission, which met all the requirements of the planning authority, and led to a satisfactory planning permission.
Planning permission was approved in July 2017 after which we co-ordinated discharge of all pre-commencement planning conditions, allowing the construction of the scheme shortly after.
