Transformation for Hitchin private school

Transformation for Hitchin private school

Vincent and Gorbing Architects recently completed the new classroom and changing accommodation for Kingshott School, a private school on the outskirts of Hitchin. The distinguished piece of architecture has transformed the look of the school and improved teaching methods.

Following successful preparation of a masterplan, we were appointed for a full architectural commission on a two phase school expansion project. As the site is within the Green Belt, a sensitive design responding to the existing landscaping and features was essential.

Phase one consisted of a new teaching, science and changing block to replace temporary facilities. It included nine classrooms, an art room, a large music room, four small music rooms, a food technology room, a science laboratory, an IT room, a performance studio and eight changing rooms. Phase two consisted of a new hall, dining hall and kitchen.

The project was successfully completed in 2015. The new Teaching block has transformed the learning experience within the school.
